Why S&S

S&S was founded in July 2020, by Kim Stewart-Smith.

Along with being the CEO for the S&S Advisory Group, Kim sits on both ASX listed and non-listed Boards in Australia, providing key strategic financial advice and Governance. Kim also works as a Virtual CFO for a handful of our key clients and assists with Corporate, Strategic and Growth Advice.

After a successful career as a Non-Executive Director, CEO, Managing Partner and CFO for Benchmark Companies across industries including International Technology, Media, Communications, Advertising and Entertainment and Big 4 Chartered Firms, Kim wanted to offer a new approach to working with Entrepreneurs, Founders, Family Businesses, and SME CEO’s and Boards who needed critical financial, strategic, accounting and tax advice.

Kim understands the needs of business owners, founders & CEO’s who rely on commercially relevant accounting and strategic financial advice to deliver profitable growth. Business owners benefit from a seamless blend of commercial and chartered accounting services that has not been offered under the same roof.

Kim has experienced herself a disconnect in traditional Chartered Accounting services where reports & advice are provided and then business owners struggle to implement or achieve a ROI from that advice. S&S work as part of the client’s team supporting them with all financial & strategic aspects of their business including the implementation of that advice.

Kim also knew from experience that there were difficulties for business owners who had their accounting and finance needs handled by different providers, ‘in silo’s’ which created a lack of unification of data and advice, it was more expensive and less effective as owners themselves were trying to oversee their back-office functions with internal bookkeepers, external accountants and no CFO. Kim knew that by bundling the commercial and chartered accounting services with the oversight of a Virtual CFO, business owners would have one team of advisors who could design and provide the right information to make decisions. S&S provide bookkeeping & payroll, management accounting and Virtual CFO services by commercially experienced teams as well as the essential compliance tasks of Statutory Accounting, Tax Compliance, Tax Advisory and Company Secretarial. S&S put the clients at the centre of what they do, offering key finance and accounting services needed by the clients either as a bundle or as segmented offerings.

Kim has selected a team of highly experienced and skilled team members who are also passionate about helping clients create better business. The S&S team are pro-active and disciplined in their approach however are easy to talk to and work as ‘one’.

When Kim started Stewart & Smith, she chose the name as a homage to her father, Ronald Stewart Smith , who was a talented CEO in Publishing and Educational Supplies businesses. Kim spent most of her childhood years working in warehouses, retail stores and offices, stacking shelves, packing orders, scanning financial reports and helping her father balance the manual ledgers  – hence where her passion for business & finance was born.
